The Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia gave a speech in the USA within the framework of the event organized by the OSCE
Within the framework of the 10th session of the conference of member states of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, which is being held in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, the OSCE organized a related event on the topic "Political will in the fight against corruption" on December 11, where the Chairman of RA Anti-Corruption Committee Sasun Khachatryan also made a speech. The Chairman of the Committee reaffirmed Armenia's commitment to do everything possible to have a corruption-free country and expressed confidence that the democratic world will continue to help our country in this matter.
Criminal proceedings against officials of Marash passport group, accused of receiving bribes from about 5 dozen citizens, is filed to the court with an indictment.
The preliminary investigation initiated in the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia and carried out under criminal proceedings investigated in RA Anti-Corruption Committee revealed 50 cases of embezzlement and receipt of bribes of various sizes from citizens by two officials of the passport group of Marash branch of Passports and Visas Department of the Migration and Citizenship Service of RA MIA. Moreover, in a number of cases, citizens offered and gave bribes on their own initiative as a “gratitude” for the passport services provided.
The criminal proceedings against the head of the territorial department of Martuni MP, accused of receiving bribes, is filed to the court with an indictment.
The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings, initiated as a result of actions carried out by the operative-investigative department of RA Anti-Corruption Committee, justified that the head of the territorial department of Martuni Military Police of RA Ministry of Defense E. A. received a large bribe in the amount of AMD 570,000 for committing an illegal action in favor of the person indicated by the briber.
The head of "Mushakan-Jrashen" cemetery was arrested on charge of receiving a bribe in the amount of AMD 1,300,000. 5 more persons were arrested under the criminal proceedings
During the criminal proceedings initiated on the basis of materials received in the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia from Yerevan City Department of the RA National Security Service, factual information was obtained on receipt of bribes in various amounts from a number of persons by H. Gh., holding the position of the head of "Mushakan-Jrashen" cemetery of CNCO “Special Services to the Population” under Yerevan Municipality.
The preliminary investigation has been completed against the head of Yerevan Garrison Hospital and 13 more persons accused of receiving bribes in the total amount of about USD 7,000.
The preliminary investigation, carried out by the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia under the criminal proceedings on several episodes, justified that E.H., holding the position of the head of the state institution “Yerevan Garrison Hospital”, in a group with other employees of the hospital, using his official powers to commit illegal actions in favor of conscript soldiers, regularly received bribes of various sizes from relatives and friends of the latter.
15 persons out of 3 dozen citizens who applied for driving licenses were detained under the proceedings for receiving bribes by traffic police inspectors.
As a result of large-scale actions conducted by the operational-investigative department of RA Anti-Corruption Committee, and investigative actions committed under the criminal proceedings initiated thereon, factual information was obtained that the official of the registration-filing and inquiry of the northern center of the "Traffic police" of Police under RA Ministry of Internal Affairs, using his official powers and the influence caused by them, assisted by G. H., regularly received bribes of various sizes from many people who applied for driving licenses. Therewith, the amount of the bribe for issuing a driving license to each person was from AMD 380,000 to AMD 500,000.
Reaction of the RA Anti-Corruption Committee to the statement of the RA Judicial Department
The day before, RA Judicial Department issued a statement, citing, in particular, the remark of the Chairman of RA Anti-Corruption Committee Sasun Khachatryan, made on that same day at the meeting of RA Government regarding a specific criminal case, that the court released all the accused from custody after accepting the criminal proceedings. “I don’t want to discuss the court’s decision at all, but we have a situation where, as practice shows, court hearings drag on for years, if not in custody, that's a problem.”
Delegation led by the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia visited the Italian Republic. A memorandum of understanding was signed with Italy’s Guardia di Finanza (Financial Guard)
With the purpose to expand cooperation with Law Enforcement Agencies of the Italian Republic, specializing in the fight against corruption, and to study the rich experience of the latters, the delegation led by the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia Sasun Khachatryan visited the Italian Republic from November 14 to 18, 2023. The visit was carried out within the framework of the "TAIEX" program of the European Union.
9 persons were detained on suspicion of receiving and giving bribes, including officials of Artashat territorial center of the United Social Service
As a result of the actions carried out by the operational-investigative department of the Anti-Corruption Committee of RA under the initiated criminal proceedings, factual data was obtained that the head of the department of social work and employment programs of Artashat territorial center of the United Social Service of RA Ministry of Labor and Social Issues T.K. and the head one of the appointment departments of the same service, H.S., using their powers or the influence caused by them in favor of a briber, entering into prior agreement with the senior social worker L.M., regularly received bribes of various sizes from lots of beneficiaries.
