The preliminary investigation conducted within the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated as a result of joint operative-investigative measures carried out by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee and the National Security Service revealed a case of bribery by two officials of Shengavit administrative district of Yerevan city.
The preliminary investigation established that the above-mentioned persons, holding the position of leading specialists of the relevant department of the head of administration of Shengavit administrative district and being aware about the absence of a permit for night work of the entertainment center operating in Yerevan and the failure to pay a local duty in the amount of AMD 1 million, demanded a bribe from the representative of the above-mentioned center for patronage and illegal inaction. In particular, the officials did not take any measures to register the violation and, in exchange for not to hinder the activities of the entertainment center for 1 year, in the absence of making the relevant payments stipulated by law, on April 15, 2025, they demanded a bribe in the amount of AMD 600,000 from the representative of the center.
As a result of the secret investigative operation “imitation of giving and receiving a bribe” carried out on April 19, 2025, one of the above-mentioned officials was caught and detained at the moment of receiving a bribe in the amount of AMD 600,000, after which, during a search, the bribe amount was found and confiscated from him. Two officials of Shengavit administrative district have been charged under Article 435, Clauses 1, 2, and 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. Home arrest has been selected as a measure of restriction against one of them, and arrest against the other. The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings has been completed.
The materials of the proceedings with the indictment have been sent to the supervising prosecutor with a motion to approve it and send it to the court.
Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
