The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings initiated as a result of operative-investigative activities carried out by the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia established that a lecturer of Yerevan University after Mesrop Mashtots, using his official powers and the influence resulting from them for patronage and illegal actions in favor of bribe-givers - students, demanded and received from them bribes in the amount of AMD 500,000. In particular, the preliminary investigation revealed that the above-mentioned lecturer demanded money from students as a bribe for high grades in final exams within the period from March to April 2025.
Therewith, he received a bribe from one of the students, and in the case of the other, as a result of a covert investigative operation "simulation of receiving and giving a bribe" conducted by the Anti-Corruption Committee, he was caught and detained at the moment of receiving a bribe, after which the amount of the bribe, was found and confiscated during the search. For receiving a bribe in the private sector, the lecturer was charged under Article 272, Part 2, Clause 3 (2 episodes) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. Home arrest was applied against him as a measure of restriction. The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings has been completed. The materials of the proceedings, together with the indictment, have been submitted to the supervising prosecutor with a motion to approve it and send it to court.
Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
