The preliminary investigation carried out under the criminal proceedings investigated by the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia established that a patrol officer of Tavush Marz Patrol Service of the Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, using his official powers and the influence caused by them, received AMD 300,000 under the guise of mediation in giving a bribe.
In particular, the preliminary investigation revealed that in September 2024, the above-mentioned patrol officer informed a citizen, wishing to obtain a driving license, that he could organize the process of obtaining a driving license illegally in exchange for a bribe of AMD 600,000 to his acquaintance, allegedly an official. In exchange for the above-mentioned actions, the patrol officer persuaded the citizen to initially hand over to him AMD 300,000 of the bribe amount, allegedly for the purpose of passing it over to his acquaintance, an official, and to hand over the remaining amount after passing the exam required to obtain a driving license. However, the patrol officer did not take any further action, and the citizen did not receive a driving license.
As a result, the patrol officer, using his official powers and the influence caused by them, received AMD 300,000 under the guise of mediation in giving a bribe.
The patrol officer was charged with attempted incitement to bribery, as well as with receiving money under the guise of mediation in bribery, under Article 46-44-436, Part 2, Point 3, and Article 440, Part 3 of the RA Criminal Code. The latter's powers were suspended.
The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings has been completed, and the materials of the proceedings together with the indictment have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia.
Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
