The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings investigated by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee revealed facts of offering bribes to officers of the patrol police service of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In particular, under one of the criminal proceedings it was established that on April 29, 2025, as a result of an inspection, the officers of patrol battalion of Gegharkunik marz found that the citizen did not have the required class of the driving license to drive that vehicle, in connection with which a corresponding protocol on an administrative offense was drawn up. After that, the passenger of the car put AMD 30,000 into the pocket of the patrol police officer, but was detained and taken to the police station on reasonable suspicion of bribing an official.
In the course of another criminal proceeding, it was revealed that on April 30, the officers of the patrol battalion of Syunik Marz stopped a citizen who was driving a car while drunk, for driving into the oncoming lane. The citizen offered a bribe to the patrol officers to avoid taking a sobriety test, after which he was detained on reasonable suspicion of committing a crime.
For offering a bribe to patrol officers, the two above-mentioned persons were charged under Article 436, Part 1, and Article 436, Part 2, Clause 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings has been completed, the materials of the proceedings together with the indictments have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia.
Taking into account the above, we would like to remind you once again that not only giving a bribe, but also offering or promising it, in accordance with Article 436 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, are criminally prosecutable acts, which are subject to punishment by imprisonment for up to 7 years. Therefore, we urge you to refrain from committing such actions and to act within the law, and in case of a bribe demand by officials, call the hotline of the Anti-Corruption Committee at 011 900 035.
Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
