The criminal proceedings initiated as a result of operational investigative measures carried out by the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia established that the candidate of the alliance of parties participating in the special elections of Gyumri community Counsil scheduled for March 30, 2025, promised a resident of the city of Gyumri an election bribe in exchange for participating in the elections, as well as for recruiting voters to vote for the alliance of parties he represents.

In particular, the preliminary investigation revealed that the aforementioned resident addressed to a number of people from his surroundings who had the right to vote, calling on them to participate in the elections and vote for the above-mentioned alliance, and passed on the information received in this regard to the candidate of the mentioned alliance, who offered him an election bribe.

In the course of the preliminary investigation, the two above-mentioned persons were charged with committing obvious crimes under Articles 218 and 219, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, namely, receiving and giving an election bribe. Administrative supervision was applied against them as a measure of restriction.

The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings has been completed. The materials of the proceedings, together with the indictment, have been sent to the supervising prosecutor with a motion to approve it and send it to court.

Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
