The preliminary investigation carried out by the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia under the criminal proceedings established that the head and deputy head of a relevant department of Vardenis community of Gegharkunik marz of the Republic of Armenia, using their official powers in the interests of bribe givers, received a bribe from the director of the company implementing technical inspection and an employee of the same company.
In particular, it was established that on November 4, 2024, the said officials received a bribe from the director and the technical inspector of the company implementing technical inspection, for issuing a positive conclusion by the relevant officials of Vardenis community on consulting services for technical inspection of construction works carried out for the needs of Vardenis town within the framework of subvention programs, and submitting documents to the relevant department regarding the amount to be paid to the company by the community.
Two officials of the community have been charged with bribery under Article 435, Part 2, Clause 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. Arrest was applied as a measure of restriction against them. The director of the company and its technical inspector were charged with bribing the above-mentioned officials under Article 436, Part 2, Clause 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings has been completed, and the materials of the proceedings, together with an indictment, have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia.
The criminal proceedings investigated by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee, established that a person holding a managerial position in the Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia failed to fulfill his official duties, as a result of which a loss in the amount of about AMD 3.7 million was caused to the legitimate interests of the state.
