The criminal proceedings initiated by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee based on reports received from the Criminal Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, established that a relative of a candidate nominated by one of the alliances of parties participating in the early elections of Gyumri community Council scheduled for March 30, 2025, and two candidates for the Community Council of the mentioned alliance, having entered into a preliminary agreement, as part of a group, provided services to voters under the guise of charity and at the same time carried out pre-election campaigning.
In particular, they carried out works on leveling and paving the streets of Gyumri community, which were presented as providing services to voters and fulfilling their requests, while in fact they were engaged in pre-election campaigning.
Thus, the three above-mentioned persons, by providing gratuitous services to voters combined with election campaigning, violated the ban on carrying out charitable activities during the election period from the moment the decision to call the elections came into force until the election results were summed up, for which they were charged under Article 221, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
Administrative supervision and a ban on absence were applied as a measure of restriction against the accused.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been completed, and the materials of the proceedings together with the indictment have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia.
Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
