The criminal proceedings investigated in the RA Anti-Corruption Committee established that A. K., with the assistance of another person, provided illegal remuneration to the deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
In particular, the preliminary investigation revealed that A. K., with the assistance of his acquaintance, addressed an NA official to organize the process of exporting 150,000-200,000 farm animals to the United Arab Emirates, bypassing the procedures prescribed by law, in exchange for an amount of USD 200,000-300,000. On August 9, 2023, the NA deputy informed that he had already reached agreements with officials, and to start the process, he demanded USD 200,000, of which USD 100,000 would be paid initially, and the remaining amount would be paid after the start of the transaction.
During the meeting with the National Assembly deputy on August 10, 2023, A. K. informed the latter that he could transfer USD 20,000 to the official and pay the rest of the agreed amount upon the export of each batch of animals. However, the NA official noted that, taking into account the previously agreed amount, he had already reached an agreement with the officials, and therefore refused to receive USD 20,000 from A. K.
For providing illegal remuneration to the NA official and assisting in it, the above-mentioned two persons were charged under Article 439, Part 2, Clause 3 and Article 46-439, Part 2, Clause 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings has been completed. The indictment has been approved by the prosecutor, and the materials of the proceedings have been sent to court.
Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
