The criminal proceedings investigated by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee, revealed that in 2021-2023, a person who held the position of the director of one of the kindergartens operating in Yerevan, using her official powers, committed official forgery and embezzled a particularly large amount of funds entrusted to her.

The preliminary investigation established that during the above-mentioned period, the aforementioned director, having appointed her close friends and relatives to various positions in the kindergarten, including the same persons in several positions simultaneously, received and disposed of their salaries. Moreover, some of the appointed persons did not show up for work at all, and the director made false entries in the relevant documents about their attendance at work, based on which she managed the accrued and transferred salaries.

In addition, it was found out that in 2021-2023, the director used gasoline allocated to the kindergarten for her own needs worth of more than AMD 2,000,000.

In total, during the above-mentioned period, AMD 50.6 million was embezzled by the director of the kindergarten.

For embezzlement in a particularly large amount and official forgery, the director was charged under Article 445, Part 1 and Article 256, Part 3, Clause 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. Home arrest, bail, and recognizance not to leave were applied as a combined measure of restriction against her. Charges were also brought against 4 persons who assisted the director. Decisions were made to refuse to initiate criminal prosecution and to terminate criminal prosecution against 16 other persons who assisted her, without valid reasons.

In the course of the preliminary investigation, AMD 9 million of the damage caused to the state was recovered, and for the equivalent of the remaining part of the damage, the real estate belonging to the director was seized. The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings has been completed. The prosecutor has approved the indictment, and the materials of the proceedings have been sent to the RA Anti-Corruption Court.

Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
