The preliminary investigation conducted within the framework of the criminal proceedings investigated by the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia established that V.S. under the pretext of mediation in giving a bribe to officials, received a large of money in the amount of AMD 1,500,000 and a drink costing AMD 90,000 from a conscript soldier and his mother.
In particular, Yerevan resident K.P. turned to his friend V.S. with a request to release conscript A.M. from further military service, who was transferred to the Central Clinical Military Hospital of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia in January 2024, at the same time informing that in order to resolve this issue A.M. and his mother are ready to give a bribe.
Having learned about the readiness of the serviceman and his mother to give a bribe, but actually having no intention of contacting any official on this issue, with the intention of receiving money under the pretext of mediation in a bribe, V.S. assured K.P. that allegedly in exchange for paying a bribe in the amount of $3,000 to officials he knew, the release of A.M. from further military service could be arranged.
A.M. and his mother, not knowing about V.S.’s true intention, through the mediation of K.P., handed over to V.S. a large amount of AMD 1,500,000 and a drink costing AMD 90,000 within the period from January 11 to February 19, 2024.
In the course of the preliminary investigation, V.S. was charged under Article 440, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. Home arrest was selected as a measure of prevention against him.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal proceedings has been completed; the materials of the proceedings have been sent to the court with an indictment for consideration on the merits.
Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
