The Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia Sasun Khachatryan received the delegation headed by the US Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) Brandon Yoder, including the head of the Eurasian Team of the Bureau of Narcotics in Europe and Asia Marie Kurth, the Director of the Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the US Embassy Alexis Haftvan, and INL Criminal Justice Reform Program Manager Christina Afoyan.
Welcoming the guests, Sasun Khachatryan emphasized the active cooperation with American partners within the framework of the INL program in recent years and the constant support provided by the program to the Anti-Corruption Committee, especially in the acquisition of the latest information technologies and personnel training. The Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Committee presented to the US delegation the work done by the anti-corruption structure he heads over the previous two years, stressing that yet in 2023, not only the number of proceedings reviewed, but also the number of cases sent to court with indictments and the number of lawsuits doubled.
The American side underlined that within 2.5 years of activity, the Anti-Corruption Committee was able to record significant progress in the fight against corruption.
During the meeting, the possibilities of implementing new programs with the involvement of experts and training within the framework of the INL program were also discussed.
Emphasizing the already established close links of cooperation, the parties agreed to continue the joint work with the same efficiency to develop the potential of the Anti-Corruption Committee and improve the professional skills of the officers.
