The Chairman of RA Anti-Corruption Committee, Sasun Khachatryan, received Michael Wasco, the Senior Adviser on Justice Issues of the US State Department, as well as Alexis Haftvani, the Director of the U.S. Embassy Yerevan’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL), and Christina Afoyan, the Head of the INL Criminal Justice Reform Program.
Expressing gratitude to the American side for the continuous support and close cooperation provided within the framework of various programs carried out by the INL office, Sasun Khachatryan presented to Michael Wasco the main directions of the Anti-Corruption Committee's activities and the recorded results in the fight against corruption, referred to the process of personnel selection and recruitment, key issues and priorities related to coaching and advanced training of the operative employees.
During the meeting, issues of jurisdiction over crimes of a corruption nature, criminal proceedings investigated by the Anti-Corruption Committee, as well as legislative initiatives recently presented by the Committee in order to increase the efficiency of the preliminary investigation were discussed. Also the necessity to invest the latest information technologies with the support of the American side and the possibility of conducting training for the Committee employees on their application were discussed.
The American side expressed its readiness to continue support in increasing the potential of the Anti-Corruption Committee and improving the professional knowledge of its employees.
