Based on evidences obtained in the course of the preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings carried out by RA Anti-Corruption Committee, it was justified that an official of one of the municipal departments of Armavir marz, using his authorized and official powers and the influence they exert, to commit actions in favor of R.S., namely, to expropriate 22 ha plot of land owned by the given community without obstacles and delays, through an auction, in the period from July to August 2023, in addition to state duties, demanded a bribe in a particularly large amount of USD 42,000, equivalent to AMD 16,202,760, however, R.S. bargained and promised to give the official USD 17,000.
In addition, the above mentioned official of the municipality, for the purpose to perform an action in favor of another citizen S.V., namely, to expropriate 5 ha plot of land belonging to the given community without obstacles and delays, through an auction, within the same period specified above, with the assistance of K.B., demanded a bribe from S.V. in the amount of USD 7,500, equivalent to AMD 2,893,350, of which received USD 3,500 on September 7, 2023.
The official was charged with receiving large and particularly large bribes under Article 435, Part 3, Clause 3 of RA Criminal Code and Article 435, Part 2, Clause 2 of RA Criminal Code. Arrest was applied against him as a measure of restriction.
K.B., R.S. and S.V. were also charged with giving a bribe to the official and assisting in receiving a bribe.
The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings has been completed. The indictment has been approved by the prosecutor, and the materials of the proceedings have been filed to the court for consideration on the merits.
Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
