The 10th session of the Conference of member states of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (COSP 10) is held from December 11 to 15 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, where the Chairman of RA Anti-Corruption Committee, Sasun Khachatryan, made a national speech as the head of the delegation of the Republic of Armenia. The delegation includes representatives of RA Prime Minister's Office, RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, RA Ministry of Justice and RA General Prosecutor's Office.
Noting that the fight against corruption requires a comprehensive, universal approach and includes all legal and social spheres, Sasun Khachatryan emphasized in his speech that Armenia has entered a new, more targeted stage in the fight against corruption, which is reflected in the programs of RA Government, as well as in the anti-corruption strategy adopted by RA Government in 2019. Within the framework of the measures provided by it, as a component part of the specialized system in the field of fighting corruption, the Anti-Corruption Committee was established on October 23, 2021, and operates in RA.
The Chairman of the Committee referred to a number of challenges in the fight against corruption today, such as transnational corruption, including crimes of a corrupt nature committed by foreign officials and officials of international organizations, the movement of illegal property and assets outside the national borders. According to Sasun Khachatryan, Armenia emphasizes the importance of international cooperation to face these challenges and calls for joint, universal actions.
Reaffirming Armenia's adherence to the principles and goals of the Anti-Corruption Convention, the Chairman of the Committee noted that our country is ready to strengthen the joint efforts to effectively counter corruption and prevent it at all levels.
