On November 20, 2023, A.S. was detained and submitted to the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia on suspicion of offering a bribe to the officers of patrol service of the Police of RA Ministry of Internal Affairs and possession of prohibited drugs.
Based on the information obtained during the preliminary investigation, on November 20, 2023, two officers of the patrol service of the Police of RA Ministry of Internal Affairs, holding their duty on Nօubarashen highway, stopped a “Mercedes” car driven by A. H., for expiration of the technical inspection period. At that moment, noticing that the passenger of the car A.S. took out a narcotic substance with a pipette from his pocket and threw it away, the patrol officers called their two other colleagues. A.S. suggested one of the patrol officers who arrived at the scene of the incident to have a private conversation, where he offered the latter and the other patrol officers at the scene of the incident a bribe of AMD 20,000 each for unlawful inaction in his favor, namely, for not protocoling the fact of committing the alleged crime and letting him away from the scene.
A.S. was detained on the basis of reasonable suspicion in possession of a prohibited drug, as well as offering a bribe in the total amount of AMD 80,000 to 4 patrol officers for not protocoling administrative offenses.
The criminal investigation is underway.
Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
