As a result of the actions carried out by the operational-investigation department of RA Anti-Corruption Committee under the initiated criminal proceedings, factual information was obtained that H. Sh., holding the position of the head of the cemetery of Nork-Marash administrative district, SNPO “Special Service for the Population” of Yerevan Municipality, abusing his official powers in favor of V.K., namely with the purpose of burying the latter’s relative in Nork-Marash cemetery and providing a burial place at a preferred area, required and received on June 22, 2023, from V.K. a bribe in a large amount of 2,500 US dollars.

In addition, with the purpose of burying a relative of another person, G. E., at Nork-Marash cemetery and providing a burial place at a preferred area, on July 7, 2023, H. Sh. required a bribe from G. E., and then having agreed the amount of the bribe through the mediation of A K, on the same day received 2000 US dollars from G.E.

On October 27, 2023, the head of the cemetery of the administrative district of Nork-Marash H. Sh., persons bribing the latter G. E., V. K., and A. K., who solicited the bribe, were detained.

H. Sh. was charged (2 episodes) under Article 435, Part 2, Point 2 of RA Criminal Code for receiving a bribe. G. E. and V. K. were charged under Article 436, Part 2, point 2 of RA Criminal Code for paying a bribe, and A. K. was charged for solicitation in giving a bribe, provided for in Article 437 Part 1 of RA Criminal Code.

Based on the court decision, arrest was applied as a measure of restriction towards the head of the cemetery, as well as G.E. and V.K., who paid the bribe to him.

The preliminary investigation is underway.

Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
