As a result of operative-intelligence activities carried out jointly with the Yerevan City Department of the RA National Security Service on the criminal proceedings under investigation by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee, factual data were obtained that the chief customs inspectors of the customs point-department “Bagratashen” of the Eastern Customs Department of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia received a bribe for not subjecting the goods imported by “Intertrans” LLC to proper inspection and not registering a violation.
In particular, during the preliminary investigation, it was found out that in order to solve the problems at the customs point related to the weight and type of clothes imported by the "Intertrans" LL company for their own benefit, not to check the imported cargo, and not to register the detected violation, Director of LLC A. M. pushed A. V., the driver of a vehicle carrying cargos for the mentioned company, to pay a bribe to V. M., the chief customs inspector of the "Bagratashen" customs point-division. The latter, using his official powers, in order to commit unlawful inaction in favor of the company Intertrans LLC, as well as the driver A.V., for not conducting the appropriate check and not registering the violation, in conditions where the actual weight of imported goods did not correspond to the documents,, received a bribe of 20,000 RF rubles, equivalent to AMD 76,200, on August 15, 2023.
Besides, the preliminary investigation revealed that another official of the "Bagratashen" customs point-division, chief customs inspector H. K., for demonstrating illegal inaction in favor of the above-mentioned same company and driver A.V., for the passage of goods imported into the Republic of Armenia without proper control, on July 13, 2023, he demanded from the latter as a bribe a personal electronic evaporator “Iqos” with a market value of 60,000 AMD.
The director of "Intertrans" LL company A. M., driver A. V. and two customs inspectors were deained. A.M. was charged under Article 46-436, part 2, point 3 of the RA Criminal Code, A.V. - under Article 436, part 2, point 3. Chief customs inspectors V. M. and H. K. were charged under Article 435, part 2, point 3 of the RA Criminal Code.
According to the court's decision, house arrest, bail and suspension of office were selected as a combined measure of restriction towards V. M., and house arrest for H. K..
The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
