As a result of the joint operative-investigative measures in criminal proceedings initiated by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee on the basis of the data received from the RA National Security Service, as well as the investigative and administrative actions, facts testifying apparent crime of accepting a bribe of particularly large amount of 6 million AMD by the official of the RA Ministry of Defense, were obtained.

In particular, it was found that Tavush marz resident A. G. reached an agreement with S. A. the head of the recruitment department of the RA Ministry of Defense's conscription and recruitment replenishment service, to declare his son, who is to be drafted in the summer of 2023, unfit for conscription on the grounds of illness in return for a bribe. The latter, using his official powers and the influence caused by them, demanded and on April 14, 2023 received a particularly large bribe of 6 million AMD from A. G. in order to carry out the above-mentioned illegal act for the benefit of A. G.'s son

On 27.07.2023, the official of the Ministry of Defense, who received a bribe and the A.G. who bribed the latter were detained. On the same day S. A. was charged under point 3 of part 3 of article 435 of the RA Criminal Code, and A. G., was charged under point 2 of part 3 of article 436 of the RA Criminal Code.

The anti-corruption committee investigator filed a petition to the court to  select arrest as a measure of restriction against the official of the Ministry of Defense, S. A., which was granted.  According to the court's decision, house arrest and a bail of 8 million AMD were applied as a combined measure of restriction against A.G.

The preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
