As a result of the large-scale investigative and administrative operations carried out in the criminal proceedings initiated by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee based on the data received from the internal security department of the RA MIA Police, many cases of receiving bribes from drivers who committed various violations of traffic rules by three inspectors of the RA MIA Police “Road Police” service, were revealed.
With the evidence obtained during the preliminary investigation, it was substantiated that K. M. traffic police senior inspector and A. A. and K. A. traffic police inspectors demanded and received 1,000-20,000 AMD as a bribe in return for not drawing up records of administrative offenses against 50 drivers who violated traffic rules during the period from December 8 to 21, 2022, while performing service in the territory of Kotayk marz.
In particular, the above-mentioned drivers drove the car without a seat belt, with a driver's license of another country, or exceeded the maximum speed limit set in the given place of residence, and in a number of cases, they did not have an insurance contract or drove a vehicle that did not pass a technical inspection. Some drivers also drove the vehicle in conditions of expired driving license or being deprived of driving license.
K. H. was charged for receiving bribes from drivers, under points 1 and 3 of part 2 of article 435 (50 counts) of the RA Criminal Code, and K. A. and A. A. under the features of the same article, respectively, with 31 and 19 counts. Arrest was applied as a measure of restriction against all the mentioned TP inspectors, which was later replaced by home arrest, Two of the inspectors pleaded guilty to the charges and gave confessions.
The Preliminary investigation in the criminal proceedings is over. The materials of the proceedings with the indictment were sent to the supervising prosecutor with a request to approve it and send it to the court.
Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
