By the criminal proceedings investigated by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee it was substantiated that occupying the position of a specialist in the security division of the “Armavir” penitentiary institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia A. G. received bribes from the convicts of the same institution during 2022 in order to commit obvious illegal acts for the benefit of the latter, including trying to assist in Illegal acquisition of Marijuana drug in large amounts without the purpose of sale.

 In particular, it was found that in January 2022, convicts of “Armavir” Penitentiary P. T. and V. G. offered the above-mentioned official of the Penitentiary A. G. to take from the persons they pointed out and give them mobile phones that are prohibited in the penitentiary against 50,000 and 80,000 AMD respectively as a bribe.  Accepting the offer of a bribe by the convicts A. G. met the persons pointed out by them and took the phones and money from them.

In addition, the preliminary investigation substantiated that A. G. also agreed to transport narcotics to the “Armavir” penitentiary in return for a bribe and hand them over to the convict. In particular, on January 10, 2022, A. G. took a large amount of “Marijuana” drug and 50,000 AMD as a bribe from the persons indicated by the convict, then, in order to implement the agreements reached in all the above-mentioned cases, he hid the mobile phones and the drug package in his uniform pocket and on January 15, 2022 went on the shift. However, before entering “Armavir” penitentiary A. G. was subjected to a personal examination by the officers of the operational division of the institution, during which mobile phones and drugs were found.

A. G. was charged under part 2 of article 311 (3 counts) and part 2 of article 38-34-268 of the former Criminal Code of RA, and convicts V. G. and P. T. were charged under part 1 of article 312 of the former Criminal Code of RA.

The preliminary investigation in criminal proceedings is over. The materials of the proceedings were handed over to the supervising prosecutor with an indictment, with a request to send it to the court.

Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
