In the frames of criminal proceedings initiated as a result of operational and investigative measures jointly implemented by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee and the RA National Security Service, a number of cases of taking bribes from the citizens of the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran by the officers of the Syunik territorial division of the RA Urban Development, Technical Standards and Fire Safety Inspectorate were revealed.
In particular, factual information was obtained in the criminal proceedings that between January and March 2023 the officers of the above-mentioned inspectorate A. M., A. Gh., and V. M. during the period of being on duty at the heavy vehicle weighing station located in the Sisian community of Syunik marz of RA, using the scales found out that a number of trucks driven by the citizens of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Iran passing through the mentioned checkpoint were overloaded, that is, they exceeded the maximum weight allowed by law. Then, in exchange for not to draw up protocols on administrative offenses against truck drivers, the above-mentioned officials of UTSF with the help of N.V. demanded and received 20-60 thousand AMD as a bribe, as well as diesel fuel.
A. M., A. Gh., V. M. and N. V. are detained. They were charged under point 3 of part 2 of article 435 of the RA Criminal Code (receiving a bribe for illegal inaction) and point 3 of part 2 of article 46-435 of the RA Criminal Code (assisting in receiving a bribe for illegal inaction).
Preliminary investigation is underway.
Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
