A case of receiving a bribe in a large amount by an official of the Ministry of Defense was revealed in the framework of the criminal proceedings in connection with the alleged crimes of receiving bribes by the officials of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia.
In particular, factual information was obtained through the criminal proceedings that A. T., the officer of the recruitment division of the Ararat Marz territorial unit of the Conscription and Recruitment Service of the MD received an 11,000 USD bribe for committing an illegal act in favor of a conscript.
During the preliminary investigation, it was found that the conscript’s father to grant deferment from compulsory military service to his son on the basis of having a false illness, came to an agreement with an official of the MD A. T., through his acquaintance R. A.
On March 30, 2023, the conscript’s father gave a part of the pre-arranged bribe in the amount of 1000 USD to the official of the MD, with the assistance of R.A., while transferred another 6,000 USD from the bribe amount to him on April 7, 2023. After that R. A., receiving the consent of the MD official A. T., he accepted the promise of another 4,000 USD bribe from the conscript’s father.
On May 11, 2023, A. T. and the person who bribed him were detained.
On the same day A. T. was charged with points 2 and 3 of part 2 of article 435 of the RA Criminal Code. A motion was submitted to the court by the investigator of the RA Anti-Corruption Committee A. T., to select arrest as a measure of restriction against A.T.
The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
