As a result of operative-investigative measures conducted on the basis of a communication given by a citizen to the RA Anti-Corruption Committee, a case of receiving a bribe by an official of the RA Ministry of Defense was revealed.
In particular, with the proceedings initiated in the Anti-Corruption Committee, factual data were obtained that in order to register with the armed forces before receiving a passport on May 2, 2023 M. V. who received a citizenship in RA, submitted relevant documents to the Ministry of Defense’s conscription and recruitment service. Then, on the same day, the mentioned citizen was called and offered to pay a bribe of AMD 150,000 to an official of the Ministry of Defense in exchange for providing the documents earlier, as well as organizing the process of not being called to the training sessions.
After that, the citizen submitted a comunication to the Anti-Corruption Committee about demanding a bribe from him, on the basis of which, a secret investigative operation “Simulation of Bribery” was carried out within the framework of the proceedings initiated in the Committee, during which S. M. Major, officer of the devision of planning and analysis of the Ministry of Defense Conscription and Recruiting Service received a bribe of AMD 150,000 from MV with the help of citizen R. G..
Immediately after receiving the bribe, Major S. M. and the latter’s assistant R. G. was detained by the officers of operative-investigative department of the Anti-corruption Committee on the basis of reasonable suspicion directly arising from the acts provided for by point 3 of part 2 of article 435 and point 3 of part 2 of article 46-435 of the RA Criminal Code.
Preliminary investigation is underway.
Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
