According to the criminal proceedings initiated by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee based on the data received from the RA National Security Service, it was found out that K. A., occupying the position of the deputy head - commander of the technical part of the N military unit of the RA Ministry of Defense, received a bribe of AMD 605,000 from A. G. to act in favor of the person indicated by bribe-paying A.G.

In particular, factual information was obtained in the criminal proceedings, that in March 2023 A. G. applied to the deputy head - commander of the technical part of the N military unit of the RA Ministry of Defense K. A. through two mediators in order to support the appointment of his relative serviceman of the mentioned military unit to the position of a driver in the same military unit. The latter, using the influence due to his official powers to act in favor of the serviceman, demanded a bribe through one of the mediators on March 7, 2023, and on the same day instructed his subordinate, the head of the motor vehicle service of the military unit, to include the said serviceman in the list of persons assigned to the position of driver.

Having learned from the mediators about the amount of the bribe demanded by the official of the Ministry of Defense, the soldier’s relative A. G. on March 8, 2023, met K. A. in Echmiadzin city and gave him 100,000 RF rubles and 90,000 AMD equivalent to a total of 605,000 AMD as a bribe. After that, on March 31, 2023, the mentioned serviceman was appointed to the position of squad driver of the same military unit.

 On 21.04.2023, K. A., official of the MD and A. G., who gave him the bribe, and two mediators were detained.

On the same day K. A. was charged under point 2 of part 2 of article 435 of the RA Criminal Code, A.G. was charged under point 2 of part 2 of article 436 of the RA Criminal Code and mediators under point 2 of part 2 of article 437 of the RA Criminal Code.

The investigator of the RA anti-corruption committee submitted a motion to the court to apply arrest as a measure of restriction against K. A., A. G. and one of the mediators.

The preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
