During the preliminary investigation of the criminal case examined by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee, sufficient evidence was obtained that S.E., occupying the position of commander of the relevant military unit of the RA Ministry of Defense from September 8, 2016, by means of embezzlement stole gasoline and diesel fuel coupons allocated to the same military unit in the amount of 2.5 million AMD.

In particular, during the preliminary investigation, it was found that S.E., being officially obliged to take measures for the protection and proper use of the property entrusted to him, instead, using his official position, in the period from January 2021 to January 2022, without documentation, illegally took out of the property fund of the military unit and embezzled 4,515 liters of gasoline worth 1,440,285 AMD and 3,710 liters of diesel fuel worth 1,001,700 AMD actually entrusted to him. S.E. used a part of the misappropriated coupons for personal needs, and sold a part of it to other people, thereby causing a property damage of 2,441,985 AMD to the state.

S.E. was charged with points 1 and 3 of part 2 of Article 179 of the RA Criminal Code. A written undertaking not to leave was selected as a measure of restriction against him. The latter pleaded completely guilty of the charges brought, gave confessions and fully restored the damage caused.

The preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been completed. The case was sent with the indictment to the supervising prosecutor with a request to approve it and send it to the court.

Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
