Based on the combination of sufficient evidence obtained on the multi-episode criminal case examined by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee, it was proved that about three dozen people bribed an official of the "Road Police" service of the RA Police, in exchange for passing practical examinations of a formal nature and obtaining driving licenses in violation of the established procedure.
During the preliminary investigation, it was found that V. Sh., a resident of Spitak city, received a total of 3,010,000 AMD from many people in the period from August 2020 to May 2021, a part of which, AMD 1,400,000, was given as a bribe according to a pre-arranged agreement, to A. S., the inspector of the Yerevan registration-examination division of the RA RP.
In return for the bribe received with the help of V. Sh., the RP inspector accepted practical exams of a formal nature from the mentioned citizens, and they received driving licenses without proper verification of practical driving skills. At the same time, A.S., abusing his official powers, in exchange for the bribe he had received, made false protocols regarding the proper passing of the exams by the persons who had given bribes, as a result of which the mentioned persons received driving licenses in violation of the established order.
28 persons were charged with giving bribes, solicitating in bribery, trying to give a bribe and illegally acquiring an official document, a driver's license, under Article 312, part 1, Article 313, part 1, Article 34-312 part 1 and Article 326 of the RA Criminal Code. Measures of restriction not related to imprisonment were selected for them. All the defendants pleaded completely guilty of the charges brought and gave confessions. The investigation of the criminal case against them has been completed. The case was sent with an indictment to the supervising prosecutor with a request to approve it and send it to the court.
Earlier, the criminal case against A.S. accused of taking bribes, abusing official powers, and committing official forgery, V. Sh., who had helped him, and a number of other persons involved in the said criminal case, was also completed, which is now at the trial stage.
Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
